Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year 2026

In February, we have Chinese New Year, the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar, which runs for two weeks, during which I will likely consume my body's weight of festive food on a daily basis and be handing out lai see, little red envelopes of cash. Looks like I'll be fat and poor for another month yet.

My children love Chinese New Year. "New clothes, lots of cash and lots of yummy food, what's not to love," is how they sum it up.
